About Us

Business Insights News (businessinsightsnews.co.uk) is an independent UK website that publishes free, easy-to-follow guides, charts and converters for everyday measurements. We started with the question British households ask most often: how to change a weight between kilograms, stone and pounds.

What do we publish?

We publish plain-English pages that give a clear answer first and the working second. At the moment the site covers:

  • Weight converters. Kilograms to stone and pounds, and stone and pounds to kilograms.
  • Conversion charts. Tables you can read at a glance or print and keep by your scales.
  • Single-weight guides. Pages such as “10 stone to kg” that give the exact answer, a pound-by-pound table and useful context.
  • Explainers. Short guides on how the sums work and why the UK still uses stone.

We plan to add more measurement and everyday number guides over time.

How do we make sure our figures are right?

Every conversion on this site comes from the official definitions of the units, and every figure is worked out by formula and then checked.

  • One pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms.
  • One stone is 14 pounds, which makes it 6.35029318 kilograms.
  • Tables and charts are generated from these values and rounded to one or two decimal places.
  • Before a page goes live, we test a sample of its figures by hand with a calculator.

Where a page mentions body mass index (BMI) or healthy weight ranges, we use the standard adult BMI formula and the ranges published by UK health services.

Do we give medical advice?

No. Some of our pages talk about weight, BMI and health in general terms, but nothing on this site is medical advice. We are not doctors, and we are not connected to the NHS or any other health body. If you are worried about your weight or your health, please speak to your GP or another qualified health professional.

How is the site paid for?

The site is free to use and is paid for by advertising. We show adverts through Google AdSense and may use similar advertising partners in future.

Advertisers have no say in what we write. Adverts are clearly separate from our content, and we do not accept payment to change a figure, a chart or a recommendation.

What if you spot a mistake?

Please tell us. We correct errors as quickly as we can and update the page.

Email us at [email protected] with the page address and what you think is wrong. You can also use our Contact Us page.

Where can you read our policies?

Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Disclaimer and Terms and Conditions are linked at the bottom of every page. They explain how we handle your data, how adverts and cookies work on the site, and the terms on which you use it.
